2010 Bergen County Softball Tournament Scoresheets

1. Pick 6 teams and a County Champion

  • Every win achieved by one of your picks gets you as many points as that team's seed number (e.g. the #7 seed gets you 7 points per win)
  • Each of your picks that make the quarterfinals gets you 3 bonus points, and each pick in the semis gets you an additional 5 bonus points        
  • Picking the County Champion earns you an additional 10 bonus point.  You may pick a County Champion that is NOT one of your 6 picks.        
  • Picks are due by no later than noon on Saturday.  I am aware there are a few first round games schedules prior to Saturday (IHA and Glen Rock are the home teams).  Any entrants who choose a team that plays prior to noon Saturday will get (i) any points for a team's win if I receive your entry email prior to the start of that team's game and (ii) a maximum of 4 points for that team's win if you enter after the start of their game.

 

2. Email your picks to jim.scibetta@gmail.com Now! (but definitely before noon Saturday)

 

 3. Mail a $20 entry donation check made out to "John Gurgich Scholarship Fund" and mail to Jim Scibetta, 3 Romary Court, Glen Rock, NJ 07452, or give me a check or cash when I see you at a game in the next few weeks.  Now or later is fine because we'll be in email contact. It's a fundraiser for a good cause and bragging rights, so you may enter as many times as you'd like for $20 per entrance. 

 

4. The participant with the most points will be honored as the Donor of Record for all of the money raised through the May Madness Charity Pool.   
  • The 2009 winner was from Old Tappan and he collected 106 points by picking the #6,7,9,12,17 and 19 seeds, and the #6 seed as the county champion. 
  • The 2009 runner up was from Ridgewood and she collected 103 points by picking the #1,3,4,6,7 and 12 seeds, and the #3 seed as the county champion.        
  •  The 2009 3rd place finisher was from Ramsey and he collected 92 points by picking the #3,4,6,9,10, and 12 seeds, and the #1 seed as the county champion (which won the tournament).        
  • The 2009 Mendoza Award for the worst finish was from Ridgewood and he collected a mere 21 points with a good sense of humor about his incompetence by picking the #10,11,14,15,16 and 21 seeds and the #3 seed as the county champion. 

 

5. Updated results will be posted here after every tournament day and emailed to all participants.
